Interview with The Downtown Fiction

E-mail Print PDF

1. Where did the name The Downtown Fiction come from?

Eric and I (Cameron) we're randomly walking through a blockbuster in Summer 08 thinking of band names. We came across Pulp Fiction, which is one of our favorite flicks, and we knew we just had to incorporate that in somehow. And The Downtown Fiction really just kind of hit us. It has a lot of cool, underlying meaning without being really in your face. We wanted a name that didn't have too much to it, where the music could shape its identity instead of the name defining us.

2. If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

Anywhere where someone would like to hear us play music :)

3. Who are your musical influences?

Jimmy Eat World, Blink 182, All American Rejects, countless others

4. Where do you see yourself in five years?

Celebrating the 5 year anniversary of you asking that question! (Mitch Hedberg) But really, who knows? Six months ago we weren't even a band, I don't think we could tell you where we'll be in another six months!

5. If you could have one super power what would it be?

The power of love!

6. Myspace or Facebook? Facebook, but myspace for music!

Coke or Pepsi? Coke!!

Text or AIM? Can't live without either.

7.What's your favorite song right now?

"Yeah! Oh, Yeah!" - The Magnetic Fields

8. If you could record with any artist who would you choose?

Maybe Mark Hoppus? Or Patrick Stump? They both are great producers who are also in awesome bands.

9. Anything you want to say to your fans?

Thank you to everyone reading! We can't wait to come to New Jersey so we can see you guys! And if you haven't yet, please pick up a copy of our self-titled EP on iTunes! Thanks guys! Love, TDF boys
